Day 1 Casablanca - Rabat

Upon your arrival in Casablanca, Morocco's bustling economic center you will be welcomed by a Goldfinch Tours representative holding a sign with your name as you exit the airport

we will meet you and begin a brief tour of the city. Our visit includes the vast Hassan II Mosque, a prominent Islamic landmark with the world's tallest minaret and the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslims.

Following our tour, we will head to Rabat, the diplomatic and administrative capital of Morocco. There, we will give you a short introduction to key landmarks such as the Kasbah des Oudayas and the Mohammed V Mausoleum. Afterward, we will escort you to your riad or hotel for check-in. We will spend the night in Rabat.

Day 2 Casablanca - Rabat - Tanger

Today, you will journey from Casablanca to tangier through Rabat with a private vehicle, accompanied by an English-speaking driver and guide.

 

Since the 12th century, Rabat has held a significant place in Morocco's history. In 1146, the city was fortified and transformed into a strategic port for launching military campaigns against neighboring regions. Today, the Medina of Rabat is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes the ruins of an unfinished mosque that was once intended to be the largest in the world. 

 

Throughout the centuries, Rabat was also one of the prominent ports in North Africa for Barbary pirates, particularly from the 16th to the 18th centuries. The legacy of their activity continues to intrigue visitors. Beyond its captivating history, Rabat offers much to explore and discover .

Day 3 Tanger - Chefchaouen

Gather in the hotel lobby this morning to meet your guide, set out  to explore the wonders of Tanger the Moroccan pride .

Discover the city of Tanger and its surroundings, including the Spartel Cape and the Hercules Caves before heading towards the old Medina

Next you will journey from Tanger to Chefchaouen. the scenic expanse between the Mediterranean Sea and the Iberian Peninsula, Chefchaouen boasts a breathtaking landscape. Renowned for its winding alleys, iconic blue-and-white architecture, intricate wrought ironwork, and vibrant marketplaces , fresh air and minimal car traffic the city invites exploration under the guidance of a knowledgeable escort. Discover the enchanting allure of Outa-el-Hammam Square, From the vantage point of a café terrace, behold the majestic Tarik-Ben-Ziad Mosque,  its octagonal minaret echoing the architectural splendor of Seville's Torre de Oro. Within the mosque's walls lies a captivating ethnographic museum, showcasing traditional attire and embroidered textiles, including the iconic djellaba.

Day 4 Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

Today, you will journey from Chefchaouen to fes through meknes and volubilis with a private vehicle, accompanied by an English-speaking driver and guide.

While en route, take pleasure in several short sightseeing breaks, such as exploring Meknes, renowned for its extensive 40 km/ 25 miles walls and numerous gates, followed by visits to Bab Mansour, the Royal stables, vibrant markets, and the bustling Jewish quarter. Before reaching Fes, discover the ancient ruins of Volubilis and the sacred city of Moulay Idriss.

Day 5 Exploring Fes

Gather in the hotel/riad lobby this morning to meet your guide, set out  to explore the wonders of Fes.

Fes, also known as Fes el Bali, stands as Morocco's cultural and spiritual hub. Founded in the early 9th century, it hosts the world's oldest university dating back to 859 CE. Flourishing under the Merinids in the 13th and 14th centuries, Fes became the kingdom's capital, later replaced by Rabat in 1912. However, it remains a vibrant artisan center, with workshops bustling with traditional crafts like blacksmithing, leatherworking, and ceramics. The city's tannery, a colorful spectacle, is a must-see. Fes's original ramparts still protect its ancient charm, and its maze-like streets offer endless exploration. A full-day tour with a private driver and guide unveils the city's essential highlights.

Day 6 Fes - Merzouga

During your journey, you'll traverse a picturesque cedar forest and cross the Middle Atlas Mountain range en route to Midelt, a city known for mineral mining and where lunch awaits. Continuing onwards, you'll pass through the dramatic Ziz Gorge, with a stop at the ancient holy city of Rissani, home to the ruins of Sijilmasa, a former capital and vital merchant hub of the 8th century caravan routes. After approximately 7 hours, you'll reach Erfoud.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a waiting 4x4 vehicle, ready to transport you to the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi, possibly the Sahara's largest. These dunes are a natural marvel, with towering sand formations rising unexpectedly from the flat desert floor, surrounded by a desolate landscape that has inspired local legends and myths. At the camp, you'll witness the mesmerizing sunset over the dunes, immersing yourself in the tranquility and beauty of the desert landscape as the colors of the sky change.

Day 7 Exploring Merzouga

Following breakfast, engage in desert activities such as quad biking, motocross, and buggy car rides .

 Venture to the village of Khamlia to immerse yourself in the music and lifestyle of the Gnawa people where the gnawa music is born. Next, journey to the Sahara Desert region to connect with nomadic families residing in Berber tents crafted from their animals' wool. Share a local meal, Berber pizza, with a hospitable Berber family, Conclude the day with a camel ride guided by an experienced handler for an hour, leading you to a camp nestled amidst the tallest sand dunes. Witness the breathtaking sunset and marvel at the star-filled sky before enjoying a hearty dinner and spending the night in the desert camp.

Day 8 Merzouga - Dades Valley

Rise with the sun and join your camel guide for a serene sunrise journey back to your Hotel/camp.

Embrace the breathtaking landscapes as you leisurely trek on camelback. Following a hearty breakfast, explore the picturesque Tinghir and Todra gorges, standing tall at a height of 250 meters and renowned as Morocco's narrowest.

Enjoy a scenic hike and indulge in a delicious lunch amidst the gorge's beauty. Traverse the enchanting Dades Valley, admiring the unique sand castles and rock formations known as "monkey toes" before settling in for the night at boumalen dades.

Day 9 Dades valley - Ouarzazate

Rise early to snap photos of the sunrise , after breakfast Journey through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs . Along the way, traverse Kelâat M’Gouna, where rose bushes line the fields. At a rose cooperative, observe how rose petals are transformed into rose water and oil. Head westward to Ouarzazate, a town known for its cinematic significance with films like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Black Hawk Down. Explore the famous Taourirte Kasbah, take a tour of a movie studio, and visit the Musée du Cinema to delve into the region's film history and production.

Day 10 Ouarzazate - Marrakesh

Head to Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site from the 11th century that was once a crucial stop on the trans-Saharan trade route.

After settling into your lodgings in the old town, take a late afternoon stroll through its quiet alleys and passageways. For a stunning view of the kasbah and the surrounding area, climb up to the old Granary. Fans of Game of Thrones can visit the river to see the gates featured in the series. Depart Aït Benhaddou and begin your journey over the High Atlas mountains, where you'll spot Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in the range at 13,671 feet (4,167 m). Take a break near the top to enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains. Stop in Taddert to visit an Argan Oil Cooperative, where you can learn about and sample olive processing. As you descend the High Atlas, you'll notice a striking change in climate and landscape. Soon, you'll arrive in the lively city of Marrakesh. Spend the evening in Jemaa el-Fna, the busiest square in Africa, which is filled with musicians, performers, snake charmers, games, and food stalls. If you prefer a quieter experience, choose one of the many surrounding cafés to enjoy mint tea and a meal while watching the spectacle

Day 11 Exploring Marrakesh

Nicknamed the "Red City" for its ancient red sandstone walls and buildings, Marrakesh has been a vibrant hub since the Berber Empire (1062 ACE). Your full-day guided tour begins with exploring the bustling stalls of Souk el Attarin (spices), Souk Haddadine (blacksmiths), and Souk Smata (slippers). Continue to Souk des Teinturiers (the dyers’ market) and visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque. Along the way, you'll see open spaces extending from some alleys, known as fondouks, which were medieval inns providing shelter for travelers and their animals.

The mosque’s towering 253ft (77 m) minaret, the tallest in Marrakesh, is hard to miss. Take a break in the adjacent gardens before heading to Ben Youssef Madrasa. Built in the 16th century, this madrasa once accommodated students of the nearby mosque. Marvel at the intricate Moroccan craftsmanship, including carved cedar, stucco plaster, and zellij tile work. For more traditional art and woodwork, visit the Marrakech Museum or the Museum of Moroccan Arts.

South of Jemaa el-Fna, the Kasbah area offers several notable attractions: the Saadian Tombs, El Badi Palace, Bahia Palace, and the Jewish Mellah and cemetery. In the afternoon, escape the medina's hustle and bustle by visiting the serene Majorelle Gardens, where you can wander among sub-tropical plants, bamboo, and lilies.

Day 12 Marrakesh - Essaouira

After breakfast at your accommodation, set out for the coastal town of Essaouira, a journey that takes about 2:50 hours. The name Essaouira means "image," a fitting description for such a scenic town. Enclosed by stone ramparts, We'll pause to observe the climbing goat, snap some photos, and then proceed on our journey to Essaouira.

Essaouira features whitewashed houses with bright blue shutters, numerous art galleries, and wood workshops. Today, join your guide for a walking tour of the old medina, Jewish Mellah, port, and Skala (sea wall). After the tour, you'll have the afternoon to yourself. Consider savoring a freshly prepared plate of the day's catch at the port or exploring the many shops and intriguing art galleries.

Day 13 Essaouira - Casablanca

Return to Casablanca via the scenic coastal road, with captivating detours in coastal towns en route. Begin with Safi, famed for its world-class surfing spots and breathtaking Atlantic panoramas. Proceed to El Jadida for a tour of its evocative Portuguese cistern. Stroll the ramparts, admire the Church of the Assumption, and savor lunch in town with the famous delicious and fresh see food they offer 

Upon reaching Casablanca , settle into your hotel for relaxation before embarking on an evening of dining and city discovery.

Day 14 Departure day

Bid farewell to Morocco as you get ready to leave from Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport.

Your chauffeur will ensure your arrival to the airport with ample time for check-in.
